Look!
It's getting kind of exciting to watch the baby countdown on my sidebar. It was fun to see it turn upside down today. Of course, our baby has been that way for weeks... so it's good that the way he is "supposed to be" matches the way he is. I've also passed what my doctor calls the "magic weeks." If I were to go into labor now, they wouldn't do anything to try and stop it... he would just come early spend some time in the NICU. My fetal fibronectin was negative, though, so things look good for another couple of weeks.

Scrapin' Fool!

My first digital scrapbook page
Ollie and Bart
Georgia and John have a cat named Bart that Oliver loves... especially since the Legos they gave him for Christmas said they were from Bart! Anyway, on Tuesday, as they were picking up Emmaline, there was a commercial on the radio about having your animals "fixed" and Emmaline asked Georgia if Bart was "fixed." Oliver became very concerned and said, "Is Bart broken?" Which of course prompted a long explanation from Emmaline.
Yesterday, as I was going through photos, we were looking at John and Georgia's wedding pictures. Oliver said, "Did Aunt Georgia and John get married so they could have Bart?" His mind is always working =)

Dreaming of Wal-Mart
As I was working on a "to buy" list this morning, I remembered that I spent most of last night dreaming about going to Wal-Mart. It was crazy because even in the dream, I knew I wasn't supposed to be up, but I was trying to hurry and sneak around and get what I needed. Crazy how even my sub conscience is practical. I wasn't even shopping someplace cool or fun. Just buying groceries and household goods.

What I've been doing...

I'm sure you are all anxiously awaiting news of my exciting life in bed... so here it is. Tyler has made it so I can access my "big" computer downstairs from my laptop upstairs and Jaim has made it so I can print from my laptop, so I'm getting lots done on the computer! I am attempting to keep my calling as Primary Chorister by planning everything so someone else can just pick up the singing bag on Sunday and do what I have written out. Primary Chorister is my favorite calling and I don't know what else they might call me to do when I'm back up and around, so I'm trying to keep it as long as possible. We'll see how that goes. Last week the lady didn't realize she was supposed to look in the bag for visual aides, although I had emailed her the information, so Savannah said it wasn't the best. This week I plan to show Savannah what the plan is so she can help someone out if they don't understand anything.
I am also organizing all of my photos. For the past few years, I've just plugged in the camera and downloaded pictures and printed or used them as needed. I'm attempting to weed out the ones I can't use and organize them into folders according to scrapbook pages I plan to make. I'm considering doing all of the scrapbooking digitally since I could do all that from bed (Tyler has encouraged me to do it that way for years) but I just don't know. Mostly because I'm not sure if there is a fairly cheap way to print them. Anyway, I have organized photos for 2003-2006. I'm about halfway through 2007- hooray!
I also went to the doctor today. He did not repeat the fetal fibronectin because it is 95% accurate for the 2nd week it is given and the one I took last week was negative. He said this is the last week that I have to stay completely down (I guess that answers my question of whether he has really meant that I should be on total bedrest. He never used that word... and I didn't ask him straight out because I didn't want to know the answer.) After this week, if I choose to get up a bit (in doctor terms- if I "choose to increase my activity level a little"), I could have the baby and he could be fine (as far as lung development, etc.) but he would have to be in the NICU for a couple of weeks.
Or, as my doctor says, (did I mention how funny he is)"If you have him 6 weeks early, he might have to go to BYU or the U. If you have him 4 weeks early, he will probably get into Harvard, or Princeton or Yale." So my best chance of being able to bring him home would be to stay down for 3 more weeks. Bottom line- I guess I'm stuck here for a while longer since I don't think trying to organize everything for 3 kids and be at the hospital with a preemie is a better option than forcing myself to stay in bed and take the medication- which appears to be working.
So that's my exciting news. Now you can get back to whatever you are doing... laundry, chasing after kids, cooking dinner. I'm jealous.

Heartbreak

The girls have been looking forward to a soccer tournament in St. George for months. To prepare, they've been going to 2 hour training sessions every Saturday night. Savannah has been going to an additional training session every Saturday morning from 6-7 a.m.
Thursday morning, Savannah woke up and didn't feel much like eating. I thought this was because she stayed up too late (Tyler had to tell her to turn out her light at about 10 p.m.). She came home from school and told Martha that her school Valentine's Party was boring (so unlike her) and she kind of moped around the rest of the evening. She said her throat hurt, but when I looked at it, it didn't look particularly red. By that night, she was pretty miserable. I sent her to bed with some Chloroseptic and Motrin. I was worried about strep, but I thought if I took her that early, a rapid-strep test would be negative.
Friday morning, Tyler took her to the doctor and she did have strep. They gave her a shot of penicillin, but gave us the bad news that she would still be contagious until noon on Saturday. So the trip to St. George was out.
After getting the news on Friday, she was pretty devastated, even though she felt pretty awful. She cried for hours and didn't want to eat (we weren't sure if that was because of being sick or disappointed). It seems so ironic that she, the one who had worked so hard for months, would be the one that didn't get to go (Emmaline wasn't looking forward to the trip nearly as much and didn't work nearly as hard.). Today, she is doing a lot better. Martha has taken to the craft store and Tyler will take her somewhere fun tonight.
We can't wait to hear how everything goes for Emmaline at the tournament.

Couples Meme
Although I didn't get tagged for this, I thought it was kind of a fun "valentine's" ideas, so here goes...
1. What is his name? Tyler T. Huntzinger
2. How long have you been together? Married 12 years-together 16 years
3.Who eats more? This is hard. I eat more regularly, but when Tyler does eat... he eats the most.
4. Who said I love you first? I think he did, although I can't recall the exact circumstances. I do remember when I first told him and I think it was so much later in the relationship... he had to already have said it.
5. Who is taller? Tyler by a long shot.
6. Who sings better? Me, although he constantly reminds me I don't do it enough.
7. Who is smarter? Tyler. As I've said before, he is the smartest person I've ever known.
8. Who does the laundry? Me. We laugh about this. When Jaim was staying with us once, he asked Tyler how to use the washing machine (it's the front loader kind) and Tyler gave him a "How would I know?" look.
9. Who does the dishes? Me.
10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Tyler, although we have been known to change, depending on where we live. He hates to be on the side closest to the wall, but has had to compromise sometimes since he also hates to be climbed over and if we have a baby...
11. Who pays the bills? I do.
12. Who mows the lawn? Our lawn is actually not in a state that it needs mowing. We did plant sod last fall, though (although it was leftover scraps- we'll see if it works). I think he will mow it.
13. Who cooks dinner? I always cook, but Tyler is probably a better cook. I always use a recipe and he never does. He treats cooking like he does painting... taste it, add something, taste again. Usually the results are amazing.
14. Who drives when you are together? Tyler almost always.
15. Who is more stubborn? Definitely Tyler.
16. Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? Me.
17. Whose parents do you see the most? Tyler's. Almost all their kids live here.
18. Who kissed whom first? This is a big joke. We were sitting at a campfire. I was sitting in front of Tyler. I turned around to see what he is doing. He swears I turned and kissed him. We all know I wouldn't do that! I turned and he kissed me.
19. Who proposed? Tyler and it is one of my favorite memories. Truly- if I am ever feeling frustrated by marriage, I remember that moment. That's one of those "big" things that makes the little annoyances disappear.
20. Who is more sensitive? Tyler. Emmaline told me yesterday one of the scariest things to her is to see me cry (is that a bad thing?).
21. Who has more friends? Hard question. We don't have a ton of friends... we're so busy and it takes a lot of effort. That sounds terrible- but I have more that I hang out with (including one very best friend- who needs more than that?).
22. Who has more siblings? Me, by one. I have 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He has 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
23. Who wears the pants in the family? Tyler, but I buy them, iron them, wash them... get 'em ready to wear =)

Waiting
Every day, when Tyler comes home, he asks if I have "blogged." I always ask him what he expects me to blog about (since my life is contained in the 1500 square feet of the upstairs of my house) and he says, "Just your thoughts." When I looked at Jeff's blog today, I decided the time had come. Beware... this is going to take a while and will contain some references to female processes. Sorry, but it can't be helped to explain how my life has been unfolding in the past year and a half. I'm not trying to say, "poor me," I've just been reflecting on things and trying to be aware of what the Lord is trying to teach me.
Dec. 2005- The scene is Tuck and Amy Jo's wedding. As I listened to the words, I have an overwhelming feeling that I am supposed to have another baby. As many of you know, even my best pregnancies are filled with vomiting and nausea for the entire 9 months. I just sit and cry. After leaving that day, I tell Tyler I am going to run just one more marathon, then try to get pregnant. His advice... "If you feel like you should have a baby, that's more important than a marathon and you should just do it." My thoughts? A few more months won't hurt. Over the next few months, I begin having this feeling that I have 4 kids. When I get my kids loaded in the van, I have a feeling that I've "left" one of them. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but when I've heard other people talk about these kinds of feelings- I've thought they were completely crazy.
July 2006- I am fully into my training for the "Top of Utah" marathon. I'm registered, and have the next several months completely mapped out for my training. I have just bought new shoes and have been able to significantly increase my speed and endurance. I start having this nagging pain, but ignore it since it seems pretty normal to be "sore" after 10+ miles. By the end of the month, I can no longer deny that I am in serious trouble. I can barely walk when I get up in the morning and after going back to the running store, I find that the particular shoe I bought is being returned by everyone since it lacks heel support. I find a name for the problem..."plantar faciitis." I am devastated. I have used running to overcome anxiety attacks that plagued me for 20 years. I also use it for stress relief, meditation and prayer.
I decide that since I can't run the marathon, I'll try to get pregnant. Seems easy enough. We've never really had to "try." It just happens.
October 2006- I have a "weird" period. It was late and heavier than usual. I give it a thought, in that it was strange, but don't worry too much. (Now I realize this was probably my first miscarriage and my body didn't completely take care of it... causing another one later.)
December 2006- I go in for an annual exam. I tell her I'm worried because I usually have no problem getting pregnant. She tells me she sees some blood, so not to worry. 18 days after my period, I should come back and have some blood work to see what my hormones are doing.
January 2007- While Tyler is in New York, I realize my period has never come, do a pregnancy test and find I am pregnant. This is a first. Usually I start throwing up about 3 1/2 weeks after my last period and have to wait around for the time to do the test to confirm that is what's wrong with me. I immediately have a bad feeling. I feel sick... but I haven't thrown up. My first scheduled appointment with the mid-wife will be when I am 12 weeks along.
February 2007- I have a little bit of "spotting." I call and request that something be done (even though the nurse tells me, "That's not too abnormal. Every pregnancy is different.") I don't buy it. I've never had a pregnancy that different and although I am getting more and more sick by the day... I feel like something is wrong. I go for a blood test on Monday and a follow-up on Wednesday. I get a phone call on Friday, "The blood work doesn't look good. Either you are farther along than we thought, and your placenta has taken over, or you've had a miscarriage." That night we head for an ultrasound- there is no heartbeat. I have a D&C the next day.
March 2007- I do not have a period. "Everyone is different. Maybe your body is taking longer to heal."
April 2007- No period. "Just wait. You're still within normal range."
May 2007- No period. By this time, I begin to think I'm going crazy. I can't think straight. I send Tyler to 2 appointments on the wrong day. I start having "hot flashes." Something is not right! I consider going to a different doctor, but feel like it is a bad time to switch. I do go to the foot doctor and have steroid/cortisone shots and get inserts. I start to run again- HOORAY!
June 2007- No period. I find that I am becoming a little bitter. I look at people around me and wonder why God deems them as "better parents" than me and start to doubt that I should have another child and think the "feeling" I had was for the baby I miscarried and I should just give up. During this month, however, I start having these "bleeding spells." I bleed like CRAZY for one day and then it stops. Starts again a few days later.
July 2007- Finally have a period. I go in for the blood work. "Your hormones are definitely not where they should be. You are not ovulating. Your thyroid is off a bit." I start hormone therapy.
August 2007- I go running with the kids for soccer and have to stop to throw up. Tyler is in New York again. I find out I'm pregnant. I call the midwife and ask her what to do. "There is a high chance that you will miscarry again. Your hormone levels where just too low. Don't stop taking the hormones. If you don't miscarry, they're the only things helping you hang on to this pregnancy." I don't know whether to be excited or not. I start to feel like I'm holding my breath all the time. The only "comfort"... I'm throwing up all the time.
September 2007- We hear the heartbeat. This is going to work! I have to stop exercising. I don't know if it's the extra hormones I have to take, or what, but I get dizzy and almost pass out several times and decide to stick to Pilates and Yoga (anything that doesn't make me sweat isn't "exercising" to me).
December 2007- I start noticing that I am having contractions. It seems a bit early, but I try not to worry.
January 2007- I start having feelings that I should get everything in order "just in case" I'm not able to do things the way I usually do. I try to start cutting back (okay people that are trying to help me- I really have cut back. This is MUCH less than I usually do). As I make reservations for the kids to go to the Ice Breaker Tournament in St George, I have a strong feeling I won't be going.
And that brings us up to date. Yesterday, Judy told me, "If I were to craft a trial that I knew would be the hardest for you, this would be it." I know that is true. I don't know how to be still. While I can be very patient with an autistic child or even my own children, I don't know how to be patient with myself. I don't know how to just sit and enjoy not having expectations from me and letting other people help me... but I guess that's what I have to learn. And looking at this chronicle... I guess I'm a really poor student.

Don't you love to get a deal?
I've been eying these Fleurville diaper bags for a while, but I couldn't justify the $150 they cost. I got on eBay and tried to get a couple and lost the first two by less than $1.oo. I was feeling pretty discouraged because it seemed that the prices were going up for each bag and they were used ones (opposed to the new ones I initially lost). Anyway, I had just about given up when I got an email saying payment hadn't been received and did I want the bag for $61. I immediately paid (I had just lost another one for $80) and didn't realize until it came that it was one of the first ones I bid on and it was brand new with tags. Hooray for great deals!

What I've been doing...
It's amazing how, when you have to lay around, you can think of a million things you wish you were doing. I'm still having trouble coming to grips with the fact that I had so many things to do before this baby came that I can't do now. Last night I was telling Georgia how I was going to buy these baskets at Target and I realized I won't be going to Target any time soon... unless it's in a wheelchair. So I have this giant list of things I wish I could do and try to figure out how I can get them done. Yesterday Judy helped me organize all my gift wrap into this really cool closet organizer I bought on the internet (that's one checked off the list). And today I am working on this little project I've had in my mind for a while.
You know how we have been counseled to have a picture of the temple in our home to remind us of our goals and what we should be aiming for? I wanted to take that a step farther for the girls. I wanted a picture of them, at the temple. Maybe because I'm not really good at visualization unless I have actually seen something. Does that make sense? For example, I have decided that the reason I can't get over my naseau in pregnancy (even with hypnotherapy) is because I cannot, for the life of me, visualize myself as feeling good during this time. That kind of supersedes any sort of mind control or therapy that might help me overcome it. (Crazy how, even with that knowledge I can't overcome it.) Anyway... when Savannah turned 8 and we bought her "baptism dress," I dressed both girls in white and took them to the temple to take their pictures. I once again realized that I should have just taken my old manual camera because I still haven't completely gotten the hang of the digital one. Anyway... Tyler fixed one of them up for me to use (although this is the original on I took.... I can't upload his edit for some reason).

I also cropped one of the one's Rachel took at Georgia's wedding because it shows the "sisterly love" I want them to cultivate.

It's funny.... the older the girls get, the more Savannah wants to act grown up and the more Emmaline wants to be "close." I hope this can remind them of what I always tell them: "Friends come and go, but sisters are forever." I know I have certainly been blessed with two of the greatest sisters. When I was talking to my mid-wife about how I was changing to a doctor, I told her that part of it was that my sister was a nurse and she was very concerned about how things were going. She said, "And she has that much power over you?" I told her absolutely yes!
Anyway... I plan on putting these pictures, along with a picture of Mama with a bunch of the grandkids, on a shelf Judy made for me a while back. I can't wait to see how it makes the room look!

More from Emmaline
We get such a kick out of all the things Emmaline writes. Here is what she wrote tonight.
FREE
Free. I love free. Can you see I love free?
No thank you, I hate tea.
Yes! I love me and my name ends in "E."
Have you ever paid a fee?
Me me Me
Me, Do you see me?
Mmmmm... do you taste me?
Feed me, just me.
Pink, no purple
It's only me.

My Pregnancy
So here's the short update. I've changed to a doctor (for the relief of all who aren't crazy about mid-wives) and I am on medication (nifedipine) to control the pre-term labor. The medicine works great, but lowers my blood pressure and makes me dizzy and have terrible headaches. I'm trying to get used to the idea that I won't be doing much for the next while... something I'm not so good at. You might notice, I've added a new little sidebar to countdown the days 'till the due date. Does anyone else have a problem remembering how many weeks along they are? I always have to count it down at least once a week. Maybe because I'm always trying to convince myself that it really isn't SO long until I can stop being nauseated. Did I mention how glad I am that this is my LAST TIME to do this?

Pictures of Jill
Wednesday night, Tucker and Amy Jo brought their precious little baby to our house to visit since Julie and Megan were here babysitting for me while I went to the doctor. She is such a little doll. Savannah even got up the nerve to hold her (she isn't much for babies- maybe she's afraid she will drop them or something).
Emmaline, of course, couldn't get enough of her.
It was fun to see everyone, especially since I'm not getting out much and won't be for the next 7 (hopefully) weeks.
Emmaline, of course, couldn't get enough of her.
