Savannah's Big News
We recently found out that Savannah was chosen in the lottery to attend the Salt Lake Arts Academy next year. We're a little nervous since we don't know any kids that go there, but she is THRILLED! It is a charter school that attempts to connect all education with the arts. They follow the State Curriculum Guidelines, but also integrate music and fine arts. We'll see how it goes.
First Kiss
Oliver loves for me to hold him while I run around. Especially when I am coaching Emmaline's soccer team. It all started when I would run in to get the girls from swimming (I was always late). Now every time I carry him, he signs "more"... hoping I will run. Anyway, today I was holding him, running, and yelling my lungs out for the girls to play ball. He suddenly says, "Mama," grabs my cheeks in his hands, turns my head to him, and gives me a kiss. I guess he thought I was really unhappy since I was doing a bit of yelling (I have one girl who literally stands on the field and watches as the ball comes to her and rolls on by). It wasn't really my first kiss from him, but they are rare enough that I can probably count how many there have been!

Whose Little Boy

We like to spend our Saturdays at the public library. They usually have some fun activity for the kids. Last week we made some really cool masks for the kids (Tyler made a great chicken mask for Oliver) to celebrate Mardis Gras. This week we made puppets. Amidst the chaos of all the kids I heard a lady say, "Oh no. Whose little boy is this?" We turned around to see Oliver eating one of the huge glue sticks. I probably would have been embaressed if I could have stopped laughing long enough to think.

Why the name?

Why bean pods and a long carrot? My sister, Georgia, gave me the idea... as usual, other people are better at remembering funny things about my kids than I am. When we lived in Holladay, I would take a walk with the girls that would often end at the little corner market. I would let them choose a "treat" and Emmaline almost always chose bean pods and Savannah chose a long carrot. Funny how such little things make the most memorable moments.
