From peasant to royalty

Savannah had a "Medieval Dinner" at school today. They ate rotisserie chicken out of pie tins and such. When Savannah told me she wanted to dress as "royalty," I was relieved because I knew that she had dressed as a medieval princess for Halloween 2 years ago. It looked like this, only it was maroon (I guess I didn't take a good picture of her showing off her costume).

Unfortunately, in Savannah's world this didn't constitute royalty. She thought it looked more like a peasant. I thought maybe she needed more study in history... specifically historical dress, but I can't say "no" to a sewing project. So here it is. From peasant to royalty in about an hour.

Wish I could say I enjoyed it, but I spent most of the time saying, "Savannah, you've got to learn to sew better. I am too tired to be doing this kind of project at night." Oh well, she had fun.

Good for you Charlotte! I just remember I hated any sentence with, "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you.... because that usually meant some kind of project that took priority over everything else.

I don't know how you do it, either, but these are the things they will remember. I'll never forget when Kevin remembered at midnight that he had to make boxer shorts for his class. After we struggled with it for an hour, he said, "Mom, can't we call Aunt Charlotte?"
