This week is Reading Is Fun (R.I.F.) week at Emmaline's school. Today completes the week with a "dress as your favorite book character" day. If you remember, last year she dressed as the girl from "A Bad Case of Stripes".

Tyler did a fabulous job with the make-up (although I think we were late to school- thus, no picture survives the event). Each class chooses the person with the "best" costume and that child comes on stage for an assembly and gets some kind of trinket. Last year, Emmaline did not get chosen. I'm not sure the exact details of the ensuing events, but it appears that the art teacher found out that Emmaline wasn't the class pick and at some point found a way to get Emmaline on stage with the "winners" and found some sort of prize for her. I really would have loved to have seen how this all unfolded because the details I heard sounded interesting, to say the least, and I'm still unsure if this was all instigated by Emmaline or the art teacher. Here is her costume for today, a character from the book "Imogene's Antlers". (Don't you wish you had a Dad like Tyler to figure out this kind of thing?!)

Just in case, I think I won't answer the phone if the school calls. And here is a little guy that I think felt left out of this morning's preparations.

That is so creative! I am envious of your school and all of the imaginative things they do.
Update.... she won! And chose "body art" tatoo's as her prize :/
Great post! Great pictures! I really enjoyed seeing this. You have a very creative family. Tell Oliver -- him too.
