You know how we have been counseled to have a picture of the temple in our home to remind us of our goals and what we should be aiming for? I wanted to take that a step farther for the girls. I wanted a picture of them, at the temple. Maybe because I'm not really good at visualization unless I have actually seen something. Does that make sense? For example, I have decided that the reason I can't get over my naseau in pregnancy (even with hypnotherapy) is because I cannot, for the life of me, visualize myself as feeling good during this time. That kind of supersedes any sort of mind control or therapy that might help me overcome it. (Crazy how, even with that knowledge I can't overcome it.) Anyway... when Savannah turned 8 and we bought her "baptism dress," I dressed both girls in white and took them to the temple to take their pictures. I once again realized that I should have just taken my old manual camera because I still haven't completely gotten the hang of the digital one. Anyway... Tyler fixed one of them up for me to use (although this is the original on I took.... I can't upload his edit for some reason).

I also cropped one of the one's Rachel took at Georgia's wedding because it shows the "sisterly love" I want them to cultivate.

It's funny.... the older the girls get, the more Savannah wants to act grown up and the more Emmaline wants to be "close." I hope this can remind them of what I always tell them: "Friends come and go, but sisters are forever." I know I have certainly been blessed with two of the greatest sisters. When I was talking to my mid-wife about how I was changing to a doctor, I told her that part of it was that my sister was a nurse and she was very concerned about how things were going. She said, "And she has that much power over you?" I told her absolutely yes!
Anyway... I plan on putting these pictures, along with a picture of Mama with a bunch of the grandkids, on a shelf Judy made for me a while back. I can't wait to see how it makes the room look!

I'm liking this midwife less and less...! This sister will always be watching your back!
Love you!
Georgia
what a cute idea for the girls!
I really like it.
I found some old pictures I took of the two of them that may interest you . . . maybe not though, they are pretty old.
I'll email em.
Good for you being brave enough to change doctors mid-pregnancy...you have to follow your gut, especially when you're pregnant. I have friends who didn't until it was too late...Anyway, I love the pics!
I have to say that was and "interesting" comment for the midwife to make. When things start to get a little more difficult I would think she would be happy to have additional expertise involved. Anyway --
I enjoyed your post and what you are doing with the girls. They are indeed (part of) your jewels.
Love,
LaVar
I love love LOVE the idea of taking a picture of your girls AT the temple. I'm stealing it! Those pictures really pulled at my heartstrings.
You know you can always call me if you need someone to run errands for you!!
Hope all continues to go well...
